Benefits of Shilajit

Himalya Shilajit

The Little Known Herb

Shilajit grows in the Himalayas, is potent, and should be used sparingly. We use Shilajit in Golden Leash Pet Products™ Pet Mixes because of its benefits to pets. There are over 85 minerals and trace elements needed for a healthy body. This simple herb is rich in fulvic acid which is a strong anti-inflammatory antioxidant and helps the body absorb all those minerals at the cell level. Our Shilajit is Wild Crafted and 100% Organic, pesticide free – no GMOs, no toxins.

Studies of Shilajit indicate the herb is best in managing aging and symptoms which may accompany aging. It is no wonder Shilajit is traditionally used in Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine as a vital enhancer. The properties of the minerals in Shilajit improves blood circulation to carry oxygen and iron. This helps to maintain body energy. In fact it optimizes the body’s metabolism by balancing electrolyte levels, burning excess fats.

Let’s take Alzheimer’s disease as an example of Shilajit benefits. As mentioned earlier, shilajit is rich in the antioxidant, fulvic acid. As a powerful antioxidant, Shilajit contributes to cognitive health by preventing the accumulation of tau proteins which are important to the nervous system. A build up of tau proteins contributes brain cell damage.

In cardiac studies it was found that Shilajit exerted a positive chronotropic effect. Chronotropic drugs are used in pharmacology to change the heart rate and rhythm by changing the heart’s electrical conduction. Shilajit was tested in a preliminary in vitro study using Daphnia, and was found to have concentrations of 1-100ppm had the effect of reducing the heart frequency rate by 7.65%, 15% and 28.45% at 1, 10 and 100 ppm – hence the positive chronotropic effect at 1000ppm.

It is understood by users of Shilajit that the herb is somewhat like traditional pain medications in that it relieves the perception of pain.
